At Langelinje Pier you will find one of Copenhagen's most famous tourist attractions: The sculpture of The Little Mermaid. 23 August 2013 she turned 100 years old.

It is interesting to note that the statue of The Little Mermaid was sculpted by Edvard Eriksen as a twin-tailed mermaid, whereas the fairy tale by Hand Christian Andersen describes the mermaid as having a single tail – a fish tail.
The Little Mermaid (Danish: Den lille Havfrue) is a bronze statue by Edvard Eriksen, depicting a mermaid. The sculpture is displayed on a rock by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is 1.25 metres (4.1 ft) tall and weighs 175 kilograms (385 lb).
The famous statue in Copenhagen’s harbor commemorates the sad little Hans Christian Andersen tale of the mermaid who gave up everything for the hopeless love of a prince. Solvang’s replica was obtained by Earl and Dolores Peterson, owners of Denmarket Square, where the Little Mermaid sculpture stands, surrounded by a fountain and small, brick reflecting pool.
